How to smile?

I live in city of speed and money which in ordinary words would be called Mumbai City. When the day starts with rush activities at home so that we can ‘catch’ the local at time so that we can reach at places on time or rather be satisfied for out attempt to be so which will eventually lead to punctuality on the decent job till the clock turns to evening hour and cycle would be repeated.

It’s just not a routine per se. It’s a regular tackling of tick-tock, the last time upheavals, hundreds of everyday strangers, and being-there-doing-that crisis. All amidst I wonder that with constant rise of fore-head wrinkles, anger eyes, frustrated cheeks, twitching nose, aching shoulders, smelling people somewhere, a wrinkle for lips loses a reason to appear. Constant juggling of various other externally related reflections of inner emotions, we lose the sense of the uplifts among the hassles. Smile, a pleasant effortless beauty of lips fails to be remembered.

This was the point that came across while I was thinking about poor models staying in their profession due to constant paste of artificial curve of lips. And here is where I started debating between the need of an hour- fake smile and looking out for in present times- genuine smile. A practical part of cortex conveyed the reasons for a beneficial fake smile while a rational grey matter conveyed the efforts to pull up a genuine smile.

My research hence, got me- a busy girl from city- to aid with benefits of a fake smile or the “cheese-smile”.

  1. Under stress- smile, in any manner, is ultimately related to reduced heart rate which reduces body’s response to stress. And there you go, managing the stress.

  2. While sad- smiling, in any manner, in sadness causes the confusion in our oh-so-brilliant-brain as it activates a different neural pathway indicating the body’s reaction to be that of optimism and feel good one rather that depressive and negative self reflects.

  3. Caught guilty- a proven theory suggests that smiling while being scrutinised for punishment of your naughtiness would lead the punishers be more lenient. However, it’s the smile not the escaped laugh that is being talked here. The result would be otherwise.

  4. Social Quotient- smile increases the likelihood of being liked by others. Though people recognise the superficiality of smile, under within everyone loves a smiling human.

What you shouldn’t fake should be an orgasm!

Though fake smile can be healthy, and beneficial in place of losing a smile for all, it cannot replace the effects of Duchenne smile as called to genuine smile. The warmth, positive emotions, radiance and health a genuine smile can create cannot be imbibed into artificial.
